Our Story

Our Story

We are a family owned jeweller that specialises in creating exquisite fine jewellery with gemstones uncovered from some of the remotest locations on earth.

By working primarily with small-scale artisanal miners, controlling the delicate art of cutting and polishing the gems and then creating breath-taking designs and collections which we sell direct to the consumer and trade alike, we offer our clients a unique opportunity to own genuine gemstone jewellery at a value which is as rare to find as the gemstones themselves.

Steve Bennett feels blessed to be joined by family in business. His wife Sarah coordinates and advises the designers across the companies various brands. Their brother John Bennett oversees the UK and Indian operations, whilst his wife Paula runs the Jewellery Maker division.

Steve has spent over 22 years running his own companies, however whilst he had a fascination of minerals and geology at an early age, it wasn’t until the launch of Gems TV in 2004 that gemstones became his main area of focus. Steve heads the gem sourcing side of the business and is a frequent traveller to Africa and Asia. Steve is also the CEO of The Colourful Life Foundation a charity set up by the Bennett family to develop health and education in rural Africa and a Guardian of the Birmingham Assay. When not working Steve spends all of his time with his wife and six children.

Sarah spent much of her early years in the music industry and at the age of 16 was signed to Arista Records. As well as a successful solo career Sarah also provided the backing vocals on Peter Andre first number one hit. After having her first child (she now has four) Sarah became a clothes designer and since then found her true passion as a jewellery designer. “I started studying jewellery design back in 2004 and finally put pencil to paper in earnest in 2007. I found that my experience in designing clothing gave me an interesting perspective for my jewellery and as I spend a lot of my time in Switzerland, I have little trouble in keeping abreast of the what’s hot in the fine jewellery market.”

John was Managing Director of the family's ‘Software Warehouse’ business, which had over 600 employees in 2000 when it was sold to Argos. Today John takes care of the day to day running of the business, allowing Steve and Sarah to fully focus on creating the company’s jewellery. John says “My aim is to make our services irresistible. I don’t want to just make customers happy, I want to delight them! I have a great team and it’s a privilege to work with such friendly people.”
