Gemography
The gem of love, Ruby is the red member of the Corundum family and is often given as a gift to show the strength of one’s relationship.

Known in India as the ‘Ratnaraj’ or ‘King of Gemstones’, Rubies may show purplish red or orangey red hues. They are one of the few gemstones in which inclusions and imperfections are accepted as part of the gems beauty and its rich, vivid red colours are due to the presence of chromium.

Ruby is one only four officially recognised ‘precious gemstones’, alongside diamond, sapphire and emerald.
