Gemography
One of the most feminine gemstones on the planet, Kunzite is named after the now world famous gemmologist of Tiffany and Co, George Frederick Kunz, who made the discovery in early 1900s in California.
Its colour of lilac and delicate pink hues is unique in the gem world, and it is thought of as one of the most romantic and feminine of gems.
Kunzite can appear pink, violet and sometimes colourless from different angles; this optical effect is known as pleochroism. It also displays phosphorescence a quality that gives the gem a stunning glowing appearance in low light.
