Mottramite

Mottramite is a secondary mineral typically occurring in the oxidation zone of lead and copper deposits. Its color can vary from yellow-green to brownish-black, often with a botryoidal or granular texture. This mineral is composed of basic copper and lead arsenate, and it forms in hydrothermal environments. Mottramite is valued by mineral collectors for its vibrant colors and interesting crystal habits. Its name honors the British mineralogist G. D. H. Mottram. It possesses a hardness of 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale, making it relatively soft compared to other gemstones.
