Nifontovite is a rare mineral that typically occurs as small, colorless to white crystals in hydrothermal veins. Its name honors Russian mineralogist S.V. Nifontov. This gemstone is composed of strontium, calcium, and boron, and it is found in association with other boron-bearing minerals. Nifontovite is prized by collectors for its rarity and unique crystal structure. It has a vitreous to greasy luster and a Mohs hardness of around 5.5, making it suitable for jewelry use with proper care.
