It's good to see a company giving back to the area and population where they buy their product from. It is admirable that you are not just giving money and letting them get on with it etc. but actually helping the local people to help themselves and providing safer solutions, such as the cookers etc. You ethically source your materials and help to make the mining area the same or BETTER than it was before. You are teaching them to mine/work in a more safe environment and giving them the tools to sustain themselves in the long run. I used the Donate button in the purchase area, and I was charged shipping and had a box with a booklet, scoop magazine, and an invoice sent to me. How ridiculous! I can not afford any jewellery at the moment (look at how much my husband got me from gemporia for Christmas), and using the website should have been free. For God's sake, you could have added the shipping charge to the donation! That was the silliest thing I have ever seen. What a waste of a shipment, and a waste of money to the post office that gemporia should have added to the donation pot.

I saw a ring that I had paid 10 dollars more for than the price asked in a later auction. Wjen I called the call center I was given a credit ony account. When ask if there was anything else I needed i said yes take the credit and apply it to the bike ride. Glad to help even in that small way.

I think that the option to donate on the order page should stay after this event is finished - if half of your customers added just £1 each time they ordered (and I'm sure most would be happy to do so) even more people in poorer communities could be helped. Just a thought!

The cycling idea is excellent as everyone can take a turn to an accessible indoor challenge, highlighting Tanzania. To think of the children accessing the "school in waiting" is quite emotional. It could change the course of their lives.

Believe in giving back. Last year I bought several items from gemporia to donate to a local charity (spjinc.org) for a silent auction. I was able to give to two wonderful organizations at the same time. Will do the same this year-God willing!
