Yooperlite

Yooperlite is a unique and captivating gemstone found primarily in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It appears as a dull gray or tan rock in daylight, but under UV light, it fluoresces a bright, vibrant orange or yellow due to the presence of sodalite. This intriguing quality has made it a popular choice for collectors and jewelry enthusiasts. Chemically, it is a syenite rock rich in fluorescent sodalite, with a Mohs hardness of 5.5 to 6. Yooperlite is not only admired for its aesthetic appeal but also for its connection to the natural wonders of the Great Lakes region.
